Before forming Stanton | Barton LLC, Todd Stanton founded Stanton Law Office in 2014 after spending fifteen years at a large St. Louis defense firm where, as an equity shareholder, he served as head of the firm's Transportation Law Group and as its Marketing Partner.
Todd focuses his practice in the areas of transportation and trucking litigation, product liability and general and business litigation. He has tried cases to jury in Missouri and Illinois, and he has successfully resolved countless cases through mediation. Todd has defended product manufacturers and Fortune 100 companies in catastrophic injury cases involving automobiles, trucks, ATVs, pharmaceutical products and medical devices, industrial and manufacturing equipment, and a variety of consumer products. He has also defended toxic tort lawsuits for companies who manufacture consumer products and chemical manufacturing companies. In addition to the defense of product liability matters, Todd regularly defends automobile manufacturer clients in breach of warranty and Lemon Law cases.
Todd received the honor of being named by Missouri Lawyer’s Weekly as one of the Up and Coming Lawyers in Missouri in 2007. He has also been selected by Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers as a Rising Star and Super Lawyer in the area of product liability every year since 2008.
Todd has also been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America’s annual list of the nation’s top attorneys for his work in Product Liability Litigation - Defendants.

Representative Experience
Circuit Court of St. Louis County, Missouri
Our client received a defense verdict at the conclusion of an automotive product liability trial in St. Louis County, Missouri, where the plaintiff alleged his vehicle experienced a sudden unintended acceleration event resulting in various injuries. The plaintiff claimed he was unable to stop the vehicle during the event, but evidence the vehicle operated as designed and that pedal misapplication was the most likely cause of the accident was found to be more persuasive.
Circuit Court of St. Louis County, Missouri
This product liability and warranty case, filed in the Circuit Court for St. Louis County, Missouri, involved alleged defects associated with plaintiffs’ automobile. The case was tried to jury, and the court directed a verdict in favor of the defendant automobile manufacturer at the close of plaintiffs’ evidence.
Circuit Court of St. Louis County, Missouri
Plaintiff alleged personal injury and property damages associated with a motor vehicle accident, and the case was tried in the Circuit Court for St. Louis County, Missouri. Todd obtained a defense verdict on behalf of the defendant package delivery company, and was also successful in securing a judgment against the plaintiff for the defendant’s property damage.
United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri
This breach of contract action where Todd represented the plaintiff hospital system was tried to jury in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, and, after a successful appeal to the Eighth Circuit, it was tried a second time. The parties reached a settlement during the second trial.
Circuit Court of St. Clair County, Illinois
This products liability case, based on the allegation defendant’s medical device was incorrectly implanted, causing him considerable personal injury, was tried to jury in St. Clair County, Illinois. The case was resolved favorably for the defendant manufacturer after a settlement was agreed to during trial.
Circuit Court of St. Louis County, Missouri
Plaintiff alleged her home and personal property were damaged by a fire that originated in a circuit breaker manufactured by defendant. This product liability case was tried to a jury in the Circuit Court for St. Louis County, Missouri. Although the plaintiff obtained a verdict, the damages awarded were less than what she claimed.

This construction defect case where Todd represented the defendant construction company, was tried to a judge in the Circuit Court for St. Louis County, Missouri.
Circuit Court of St. Louis City, Missouri
This personal injury and property damage lawsuit arising from a motor vehicle accident was tried to a jury in the Circuit Court for St. Louis City, Missouri. Todd was successful in excluding key testimony during plaintiff’s case in chief that resulted in a favorable settlement for the defendant during trial.
