Shanterra Thomas Sworn In as Court Appointed Special Advocate
On Monday, March 1st, Shanterra Thomas was sworn in as a Court Appointed Special Advocate by Judge Hemphill in St. Louis.
In her role, Shanterra will be assisting with the growth & development of children in foster care due to abuse and neglect, allowing them to develop the skills necessary to live in foster care and thrive in society. She will also be advocating on the child's behalf by providing recommendations that are in the child's best interest to the court.
In order to be sworn in, Shanterra had to complete a five-week training course that involved 30 hours of written literature, interactive discussions and videos to help trainees better understand the child welfare system, applicable laws and how to appropriately advocate for their CASA children. As a result, the volunteers are often the most stable and consistent presence in the child's life.
The Mission of CASA St. Louis is to engage highly trained volunteers to provide best-interest court and community advocacy for children in the foster care system due to abuse and neglect.
Shanterra Thomas has been a valued member of the Stanton | Barton LLC family since October 2014, and we could not be more proud of her accomplishment. Learn more about Shanterra in her bio.
